Jackson Talking

I was watching Jackson on Saturday night and we were playing on his playmat...

Jackson & The weekend

Jackson may have pink eye. Were not 100% sure. His eye is gooey and leaking but aren’t pink, they look normal. We’ve been taking every precaution, washing everyone’s hands, toys…everything! Alicia is taking him to his appt at 9:45 so we’ll see how that goes.

Nothing too exciting this weekend. Just stayed at home and did things around the house.

Our wedding cake....its passed our anniversary but we forgot about the cake! Oh and it was still good over a year later!
We went to check on Christian and he had all his books in his bed!

Just relaxing while Daddy made dinner (Shepard's Pie)

Playing with the neighbors water gun

Van

The van is paid and home with us...never to go back to Meinke again! We had a coupon to use for $50 off any service of $500 or more (what a joke!). Alicia went to pay and use it but they would NOT honor the full $50, they told her since she didnt have to pay $30 for the oil change they can only give her $20 off the total to make it the $50. And to add insult to injury, the manager told her she has to get what she can!

We've learned our lesson, DONT EVER YOU MEINKE FOR ANYTHING, EVER!

Results

The new Pediatrics was awesome. It was a huge office with three waiting rooms and 30 patient rooms. It was very clean and organized. We got in and out in about 45 minutes! Alicia, the boys and I all went to Jacksons appt. The only thing I didnt like was how they wouldnt address me. If they had a question they would always ask Alicia. I was holding Jackson when the doc came in to give him his shots and she asked if Alicia wanted to hold him while she gave him the shots...I was already holding him.

We'll just have to let them know that I am a hands on dad and dont rely on Alicia for everything. I can take care of my own child.

Jackson got 5 shots. He weighs 12lbs 13oz and is 23 inches long. He hasnt gotten much taller but...He's in the 75th percentile for his weight and 50th for his height.

Checking in

Things have been very uneventful. Still waiting for the car to be fixed, the engine came in yesterday. They said we should have it by Friday or Saturday. I finally got a new phone so I can stop borrowing Alicia's. Jackson has his 2 month check up at 2:15...I'll post tomorrow the results of that and how this doctor seems

2 month check up

Okay, today was Jackson’s 2 month check up. His appt was scheduled for 12 so Alicia got there at 11:30 because she had to leave by 1:30 to get to Hershey Medical Center for Jacksons follow up appt for his surgery. She waits 15 minutes before asking the receptionist where the doc was…she said the doc isn’t in yet. The practice opens up at 9am, why not. The doc shows up at 12:15 and puts Alicia in a room. 30 minutes go by and the doc hasn’t seen her yet. She went looking for the doc to see what the hold up was. She stressed to both the doc and the receptionist that she needed to be done by 1:30.

Long story short…she left at 1:45 and got nothing accomplished. They didn’t weigh him, measure him or most importantly give him his shots. The reason, the nurse wasn’t in today because her dog died. The doc didn’t know how to work the scale or give out the shots!

Follow up: I found a new practice for both of the boys and Jackson will be going next week to get his check up and shots…

Figured it out

We are getting a rebuilt engine. It will cost us around $2400 but it SHOULD NOT have any problems for a while. The car will be ready by next Saturday...still a week and a half

What to do, What to do...

Our newest call from Meinke:

"The intake doesnt work, your going to have to get a new one." Our total is at $2,000 before this call. A new intake can cost between $200 -$400 according to them. Or he gave me the option of have a used motor put in which would cost $2300 (total).

I found out the car is worth only about $3000 so do I take that money used to fix the car and "pay off" the car loan or do we just fix the car. Who's to say there wont be issues with the car next month or next year. Who's to say there wont be any issues.

What to do, what to do...

Photos of Dads "Vacation"

We were expecting passing showers, instead we got a monsoon

My dad went home on Saturday. The time he spent here went by so quickly…I wish we could have had more time. On Saturday we started our journey to the airport around 11:45am but it was a short trip. Our mini van started to shake when it was idle. The temperature kept going up and down and the van kept overheating. We made it to the west reading before the car just completely died. It shut down and we couldn’t get it to start again. We sat there on the side of the road for about 20 minutes before we tried again. Nothing. Three cops came by and were very helpful. They found a towing company for us to have the car towed to Meinkie. Meanwhile Alicia called her mom and asked if she could come up to pick my dad and sister up to take them to Kulpsville to meet my mom.

We had to say goodbye to my dad on the side of the road on 422. It wasn’t a nice goodbye. Alicia cried the rest of the day. The tow truck cost us $95, the first of many shocking numbers. We got the car into Meinke and they took a look at the car. My dad said it probably won’t be an expensive fix, maybe $500 or less. Well, the guy at Meinke came back after so rudely ignoring us…here Alicia and I are with two kids, two car seats, a diaper bag, a bag of toys, a lunch box and a bag of breast milk. We asked how long it would be until we knew anything, they had no idea. We asked for a phone book, they told us to hold on, held on for 20 minutes…nothing.

Anyway, he came back and said the head gasket is blown. The cost to fix it, $1700, of that $1200 was labor. Sure, let me just pull out the money tree from my ass and hand it over to you! Alicia and I told them we would have to get back to them, we needed time to think about. I called a cab because we had no way of getting home. More money! It cost us $10 to get home and took 35 minutes for the cab to get to us.

Flash forward to Monday morning. Alicia and they boys were going to come down with me to spend the day with my mom. We got in Alicia’s car, all packed and everyone in, it was 8:15 and I had to be there around 10. I go to start the car and nothing. Doesn’t start, doesn’t try to turn over, just silence. *insert a few awkward and crazy laughs* The neighbors were home (thank god!) and he tried to jump the car. Since it wasn’t catching, it didn’t work. We’ve been having this problem with the neon intermittently for the past month or two but never to this extreme. Steve (our neighbor) helped me get the battery out of the car and his fiancé drove me to the battery warehouse to test the battery. The battery was fine, but he gave me a business card for someone who is in Wernersville and specializes in starters and alternators. I called the guy and he said he would come to our hose and fix it, that day! Needless to say it cost us $200 to fix her car.

This morning when I got to work I got a call from Meinke. They told me that the estimate they gave us was wrong. We called yesterday to see about getting them down to $1500 instead of the $1700. So they guy who makes those calls called me to talk (well more like tell me). He said that there are additional fees involved. For things he never mentioned before. Alicia called him back after I told her. He said that its an additional $200 for the “other fee’s” and that he told me about them on Saturday…he never made mention about other fees until this morning. So now our $1700 bill is $1900…well for now it is. I refuse to pay them another $200…

Hello

My dad has been using our camera so I haven’t been able to upload any new pics. There are over 300 new pics since he’s been out here and once he leaves, I’ll be able to upload them here. He leaves on Saturday so Monday I’ll be able to.

Its really great having my dad out here. On Tuesday night Alicia and I went out to dinner with him and we got to talk about a lot of things and “catch” up. On Wednesday he helped around our house and fixed a few minor things like Jackson closet door handle, the hanging plant hooks out front and the basement laundry light…a few bumps along the way! I came home from work and the electric didn’t work in the living room…he was able to fix it though.

Today he’s off with his friends to play golf and hang out. Alicia has a day by herself with just the boys and no one else. Her jobs a little crazy. She started on Monday but hasn’t worked since then. The two other kids that are there are out sick…so here is no need for her. Alicia has already started to look for another job. She has put in 6 apps for the new shopping center that is opening soon, she’s willing to take any job at this point; just as long she has consistent hours!

I'll post pictures tomorrow.

What a weekend...Alicia, me and the boys all went to the Reading Phillies game on Saturday night. We actually stayed for a whole game and Christian was really into it! He brought his baseball glove and kept standing on the chair saying he was going to catch the ball. Christian was really into the game too, he was cheering when everyone cheered, he clapped and played along with the games in between. Jackson did really well too. He slept for the first half of the game and was awake the second half. One of the players for the Reading Phillies was Jackson Williams and he's WHITE!!!

The row behind us was a group of senior ladies...just at the game having fun...a little too much fun! They had one too many...They were laughing and talking up a storm with us, they were swooning over Christian and Jackson. The one lady was very excited about Jackson's diaper change! lol

After the game they had a fireworks show. Christian sat in the seat in front of us for the show, he had Alicia hold his hand and with the other one he covered his eyes so all he had to see out of was a the opening in between his fingers! He really like the show and wasnt scared...and Jackson did good as well. His eyes got so big!

On Sunday my dad came with us to Blue Marsh Lake. We started by walking around the boat launch area and watching the boats. Then we walked along the water and Christian threw rocks while KC got her feet wet. I think we threw rocks in the water for about 45 minutes! After that we went to the other side of the lake, the beach side, and walked around. Alicia and I didnt know how to get there before so it was neat to finally find it. The beach side had pavilions, volleyball nets, playgrounds, sand, "beaches", bathrooms, showers, food stands and more. A day pass cost $3 or a season pass for a family is $30. I think next year we'll be getting one of them.

We made chicken and corn on the cob on the grill for dinner and got ice cream from the Cone for dessert.

Jackson's Appt

The appt went well. No surgery is needed at this time! GREAT NEWS, HUH?!! The doc is putting him on medicine for his acid reflux and hopefully that will work. Jackson gained more weight too! He's 10lbs 8oz! He just keeps getting bigger!
